Hello and here goes my first attempt at the blog!
I hope all of you had uneventful travels back home and were able to enjoy the rest of your weekend! It was great meeting all of you and we are looking forward to a great program with you!
Karan, Kim and I had a discussion over lunch about about a salary range for a hospital risk manager. Here is an opening that lists the pay range for a smaller community hospital. (I believe the ASHRM salary survey comes out higher than this.) --Julie

I found an interesting job posting in Kansas City:
Farmer's Insurance Company
Description
Financial Services and Insurance Agency Owner
Farmers Insurance is looking for a qualified person to grow a Financial Services and Insurance Agency in the Kansas City area. Farmers offers the best small business opportunity in America. As an agency owner, your role will be that of a Risk Manager – helping to protect and build people’s assets. Most people spend a lifetime of hard work accumulating the equity in their home and contents, their vehicles and savings. Your role is to protect families from catastrophic loss and get them back where they belong when losses happen. You will be in the business of providing security and peace of mind. You will also help people to build assets with financial products. We represent many quality mutual fund companies. Names you are familiar with such as AIM, American Funds, Calvert, ING, Oppenheimer and Putnam just to name a few. You will help people save for college with our 529 college plans, and save for retirement with 401K and IRA plans.
Excellent Income Potential
Currently Agency Owners, whose production is ranked in the top 10% are earning in excess of $550,000 per year. The top agency owner in my district earns in excess of $800,000 a year, and the average income per full time agent in my district is around $165,000.
Exceptional Training
When you are chosen to start your agency with Farmers you will receive complete and extensive sales training, product training, and support from our district office throughout your career. Our proven system will teach you a risk management approach that is designed to provide real value to your prospects and clients. This will help you create more business and exceed the expectations of your clients.
Financial Support While You Are Starting
For all qualified agency owners Farmers Insurance will offer you an excellent compensation program to get you started off on the right foot. In the first two years, we have a subsidy program that helps you start your business; our new agents earn $45,000 to $70,000 in 1st year income.
Growth Opportunities
There has never been a better time to be with Farmers. Our markets have expanded and the chance to grow quickly is better than ever.
Outstanding Benefits
Farmers Insurance offers an outstanding benefits package including deferred compensation, medical, dental, vision, life, and much more.
Requirements
Requirements
2 years sales experience, 4 year college degree, a background of success, and a desire to own your own business. I will talk to all serious business minded professionals who do not meet all of the requirements but show a history of success and experience.

Thanks for the info Robin. This is a posting for an insurance agent, even though they say the person will be acting as a "Risk Manager". They are using the term more broadly than what we use to define our own roles. An agent with Farmers Ins. would be selling home, life, auto insurance, etc.
